Team Camp and Race Season Kickoff

Thanks to David Desso for the photos - www.dessoincorporated.com/

Camp was held in conjunction with the Marx-Bensdorf Cycling Team in Birmingham over the February 3-5th weekend. Despite the weather forecast calling for 90% rain all three days, we really lucked out and only ran into moisture on day one. Who would had have predicted that a weather forecast would be incorrect? Best team camp weather we have had in the history of BPC Cycling.

Along with the great weather came some great riding – Birmingham boasts some pretty nasty climbs. We’re talking in excess of 20% type climbs. Climbs that you are FORCED to stand the entire way up.

Had a great showing of BPC racers, many of which tackling these climbs like they were Cat 2′s. All signs are pointing towards a rip-roaring start to the season for BPC!

Only a few more weekends before the season kicks off in Monroe, LA. New BPC members Steve Fermanich and Dale Chrystie are both planning on attending, with a few others on the fence.

First big team race will be the Crosswinds Classic that takes place on the east side of Little Rock, AR. Apparently only 137ft of climbing over the 13 mile loop. Should be a good way to find out who can sprint and who cannot.

Stay tuned!

  1. It was an awesome weekend riding with the BPC guys/gals again. The team seems to be in really great early season form, which means hopefully this old guy will have a friendly wheel to suck off of LOL
